Neocore E2 10.1" Tablet Review

Due to the fact that the budget tablet marketplace has seen a bit of a  shake up over the last year with the emergence of some high specification, well made tablets by the brand Teclast, Neocore have released a new model for late 2021 that in some ways seems to loosely resemble Teclast's P20HD. Neocore's new model comes with Android 10 OS and is called the E2 [E2-32-UK].

So how does the E2 compare to the E1 in terms of spec upgrades. Well, it has been improved im many areas. First off, there's a new 64-bit MediaTek Quad Core Processor that runs @ 2GHz. The 10.1-Inch 1920x1200 HD screen has been enhanced to "2K" for a sharper, richer viewing experience. Although it should be noted that 2K starts at 2,000 pixels across, so while 1920x1200 is better than 1080p, it is not quite 2K.

External storage space via the micro SD card has been massively expanded upon [was 512GB with the E1] and can now hold up to 1 Terabyte [1TB] of extra storage space.

Other upgrades include: Thinner and more sleek design, better battery performance, higher quality 5mp rear camera with Autofocus capability, so adequate for programs like Skype and Zoom, Stronger Dual Band WiFi and a new smooth metal back casing. Google Assistant also comes pre-installed, as does Google Play.

What's Remained The Same As The Previous Model

 

The amount of RAM has remained the same as the E1 at 3GB. The real glass screen that is in the E1 is also present in the E2. The high SD card capacity does make up for the fairly meager 32GB of internal storage space available in the E2. Both the E1 and E2 have a HDMI port and GPS functionality.

 

Unless their spec description is wrong, the front camera in the E2 is still only 2 mega pixels, which is pretty poor but to be expected on cheaper tablets. The built in speakers are rather standard in quality, as is the case with most budget priced tablets.

However, there is of course a 3.5mm headphone jack to make use of should you want to bypass having to endure listening the internal speakers. Either that or just hook up a Bluetooth speaker. The 2-year warranty is still honoured for the newer model. Overall the E2 is a good tablet with some strong upgrades, but how does it compare to the Teclast P20HD.

In some areas, such as SD storage capacity, at 1TB the E2 can hold almost double the amount that the P20HD can. But how much storage space is really needed. The 512GB in the Teclast is more space than most users will probably ever need. 

 

Out-the-box operating systems are the same [Android 10 - also known as Android Q]. The 1920x1200 HD displays are very similar in both devices, as are the two cameras at 2mp front and 5mp rear. At 6000mAh Vs 7000mAh, the battery life is better with the E2, but the P20HD does have some features that are more desirable. One of those being a larger internal storage capacity [ROM built-in hard drive]. 

 

 

Sleek, powerful and refined: The Teclast P20HD Octa Core Phablet

At 64GB it is twice the size of that in the E2. Furthermore, the Teclast has 4GB RAM, and also has a SIM card slot so can be used somewhat as a Smartphone / phablet [4G]. To top it off, the P20HD has a UNISOC SC9863A Octa-Core Processor.

Both offer great value for money, as the limited reviews for the E2 and more extensive reviews for the P20HD reveal. Choosing between the two, it really depends on what a user is looking for in a Tablet, but in terms of sheer specification, refinement and top level value for money, the P20HD is the winner here.
