The Huion 420 and H420 - The Cheapest Mini Drawing Signature Pads. A more accurate mouse? The Huion 420 and H420 are tiny in size. Perfect for digital hand writing! It measures just four inches by 2¼ Inches. This "Signature Pad" Tablet can be used for drawing, as well as writing, but most people will want something bigger. But don't let that put you off. If you want something that's as cheap as possible to get you started so you can have a little blast on one of these cool signature pads, it is still able to produce good drawings / designs in the right hands.
These smaller models can feel a bit strange to use to begin with, but hang in there and you will get the hang of it after while. If you need to sign documents online and would prefer a real signature on the document, then this is the perfect solution. It's one of the cheapest yes, and is fairly basic, but its still a good quality item for the price. As most Huion products are. Check out the informative review video above.
Comes with everything needed to get moving. Battery powered Pen, Drivers, USB cable and extra Nibs (pen tips). For the price it's a good little deal. Works with Apple Mac's and Windows based computers, but for some reason is not compatible with most Android based systems. Apparently, the Huion 420 is a great match for osu!
It also works really well with lots of different software including Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Available in black or white. Not sold on this one? A really good alternative to the 420, which is slightly bigger (not by much though), is the XP-PEN OSU G430.
So much choice and so many questions. Which one to go for? If you're new to digital drawing you may be thinking of whether it's worth buying a digital drawing tablet that has a screen, or one like this (Wacom CTL-490DW-S Intuos) which has no screen. And is much cheaper! Best thing to do if your just starting out is to play it cautious, get a slate style (no screen) so that you can become familiar with the kind of technique that is required to effectively work on one of these devices. You will get the hang of it very quickly I'm sure.
Two brands that are certainly great choices are Huion and Wacom. They both offer some great slate style cheap graphics tablets that are surprisingly cheap, yet brilliant quality and capable of producing superb artwork. Just so you're aware. These types of slate style tablets for drawing are not stand alone computers. They need to be plugged into either a Desktop PC, normal tablet (with some CPU power + good amount of RAM) or a Laptop. Most of them easily connect via a USB port. Check out the unboxing video above.
The Wacom CTL-490DW-S Intuos is a great starter model. A nice cheap introduction into the digital art world. It is a very capable little machine. You can draw, sketch, edit and paint. It's pressure sensitive, works great with Photoshop, GIMP. Coral, Adobe Suite and Serif Drawplus 8 (along with hundreds of other programs), and comes with a nice Wacom Pen.
Compatible with Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows. For the price this is a really good tablet made by one of the leading companies in this field. It's available in Blue, White or Black. Two great alternatives worth checking out if you can't find this particular model for sale at the price you expect (it has become more expensive of late), are the (Wacom One) Wacom CTL-672 and the XP-PEN G640. Both are cheap to buy and offer a high quality drawing experience for novice and more experienced users considering the price of each device.
Ever heard of the Vankyo brand before? Me neither. There's always an "unknown" brand that comes along, and going on reviews looks to be an excellent tablet. However, these days it pays to be suspicious of any new brand that has a mountain of 5 star reviews on Amazon UK. Why do I say this you may ask? Well, basically it is so easy to manipulate the review system on Amazon. Yes, even when the reviews are "verified".
And given that this tablet (the VANKYO MatrixPad Z4 Android 9), and the brand itself, is fairly new to the Amazon tablet marketplace, a trick that some sellers use (but not necessarily this one) to get their product feedback off to a flying start, is to pay for some "verified reviews".
This, in turn, makes that product look great and reels in genuine customers. Another tactic is to give some products away in return for a review. This is completely fine, and many companies do this. But needless to say, these reviews will most of the time be a bit bias in nature because the person has received a free product, so they will "be nice", while listing a few minor annoyances, rather than be brutally honest.
So what does the VANKYO MatrixPad Z4 have specification wise
It has a 10.1 Inch 1280 x 800 IPS display, Quad Core Processor @ 1.5 GHz, Android 9.0 (Pie) pre-installed, 32GB of internal storage space (expandable to 128GB via SD card), 2GB RAM, a fairly good 8 mega pixel camera (rear facing) and a 2mp front camera, WiFI, Bluetooth and a respectable battery life. It also comes with a 1 and a half year warranty.
So what's my opinion on this tablet?
Going on the research I have done, and what I know to look out for on Amazon regarding fake reviews, my opinion is that this tablet is not as good as it looks.
The big majority of 5 star reviews have conveniently added many pictures of the product, and a good amount of them have added video footage of the tablet in use, almost like they were given the product for free in return for an in-depth review that must include either pictures, video, or both. Seems very suspicious to me.
You don't even get that many people posting sample pictures taken from a top of the range camera they just bought from Amazon, let alone that many for a cheap tablet. Not even Apple iPads have that many picture / video reviews on Amazon per 54 reviews. That's the amount of reviews the VANKYO MatrixPad Z4 has as I'm writing this.
It may be a decent tablet, but with how much it costs, and with how dodgy the reviews appear to be, why buy this tablet over the many brands that are not just much more well known, but tried and tested, and also sit within the same price range. Brands like Samsung, Fusion5, NeoCore, Lenovo and Huawei.
